Habitude Conversations Episode 1: The Mid-Size Crisis

Habitude Conversations Episode 1: The Mid-Size Crisis

Habitude Conversations begins with a question many of us carry quietly: When did skin, size, and style start to feel unsafe? In this pilot episode, we sit down with Maui Rodriguez, one of Habitude’s packaging artists and Digital Editor of L’Officiel Philippines, to talk about what she calls the “mid-size crisis”—the in-between space where so many of us live, but rarely see ourselves reflected. As Maui reminds us, “It’s not in the number of shades. It’s in how we talk to each other.” This conversation is about presence, kindness, and why “skin and size are the two least safe-feeling spaces online.”

As the conversation unfolds, one truth stays with us: “The point is not to be happy all the time—it’s to be whole.” Maui speaks openly about learning to be kinder to herself, about dressing and showing up on her own terms, and about imagining a future where we look back at ourselves with softer eyes. “One day,” she says, “I hope my future self looks back and says, ‘I’m proud of you.’”

At Habitude, this is why we create space—for stories like these, for conversations that make room, and for a beauty culture that feels safer, more human, and more honest.

Thank you for being part of the first Habitude Conversations. This space is yours, too.
